Cutting services

3D Welding Works can provide a full range of cutting services, from batch cutting straight lengths to nested part cutting on our state-of-the-art high precision laser cutter, as well as our larger capacity waterjet, which can cut mild steel up to 150mm thick.

  • laser cutting

Laser cutting is primarily a thermal process that uses a focused laser beam to melt material in a specific area. To eject the molten material and create a kerf, a co-axial gas jet is used. The laser beam or workpiece is moved under CNC control to produce a continuous cut.

  • waterjet

Waterjet cutting is a type of industrial tool that can cut a wide range of materials by using an extremely high-pressure jet of water or a mixture of water and an abrasive substance.

  • guillotining

Sheet metal guillotines are an important piece of sheet metal fabrication equipment; they can be used to make clean, accurate cuts in sheet metal.

  • Band saw

A band saw is a power saw that uses a long, sharp blade made of a continuous band of toothed metal stretched between two or more wheels to cut material. Advantages include a uniform cutting action due to an evenly distributed tooth load and the ability to cut irregular or curved shapes like a jigsaw.

  • Aluminium Drop Saw

An aluminium drop saw is used to make precise crosscuts and mitres in a workpiece by 'dropping' a large mounted circular saw blade down onto a board at a predetermined angle.
